Jun 02, 2023Jun 02, 2023

No weapon was found after Eastlake High School was placed in a precautionary security lockdown late Wednesday morning after a student reportedly overheard a rumor that a person had a weapon on the campus, Socorro Independent School District officials said.

There was "no evidence of a viable threat to students or the campus," said a message by Eastlake Principal Gilbert Martinez sent to parents.

Eastlake is located at 13000 Emerald Pass Ave. near Eastlake Boulevard in the Horizon City area.

The Socorro Independent School District police officers with help from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office secured the campus as a precaution before the school was cleared and the lockdown was lifted.

The school day will continue on a modified schedule and extra police would remain on campus for the day, SISD officials said.
